Heroes

This page will be devoted to the recognition
of heroes - men who are, or have been, gallantly mature in their commitment
to mothers and/or Mother Nature.
Nat Hentoff
is a jazz critic for the Village
Voice. He is also an advocate for preserving our civil rights,
particularly our First Amendment rights. He promotes these rights
regardless of the political views of the people for whom he is fighting.
He is a hero for mothers and allies of mothers who try to do the best for
children, even when they are going against the cultural norm. He
has earned his spot on this page for a more dramatic reason. He was
the first widely known feminist liberal journalist to break from the norm
to proclaim himself prolife. He has been excoriated for his shocking
disclosure. As an atheist, he lacked even a religious church or temple
to succor him. He is a shining light in the movement known as "the
consistent ethic of life." His prolife views are founded on compassion
and the deepest commitment to the civil rights of all. He exemplifies
"Live and let live."
